Barcelona have launched their new Nike third kit for the 2021/22 season that will be exclusively worn in the Champions League by both men’s and women’s teams.
The new strip is effectively a European version of the club’s home colours, with the vibrant red and blue design specifically inspired by the city’s young talents.
There is a representation of five Barcelona neighbourhoods in the pattern – Poble-sec, Poble Nou, Gracia, Raval and Les Corts, reimagined by young artists. The graphic depicts the most iconic architectural and cultural landmarks from each neighbourhood as silhouettes.
Overall, the jersey hopes to stress the closeness between the club and the city.
It will be worn with blue shorts that match the shade of blue in the shirt and, as has become the norm for Barça, two versions are available for sale. One features Rakuten branding worn by the men’s team, while the other includes the Stanley sponsoring used by the women.
Barça’s women are reigning European champions after becoming the first Spanish team to lift the Women’s Champions League trophy last season, thrashing Chelsea in a one-sided final.
Having automatically qualified for this season’s brand new group stage, they will find out who they will be facing when the draw takes place on Monday. The group stage then begins in early October.
The men will wear the new kit for the first time next week when they begin their Champions League group stage campaign against Bayern Munich at Camp Nou.
